it came to me...

I have been trying to think about things to blog about lately. I haven't come up with anything as you haven't seen any new posts in the past few days.

I kind of feel like I am just waiting, not living. Which, is not really good. I should be taking advantage of the last few weeks our family will be one. Who knows when we will all be together for any length of time. But, when Jorge works most of the day, it is hard to think of anything other than when I can get out of here.

But, this post isn't intended on beating into the ground the subject of me leaving Mexico. I think it has been talked about plenty. So, when that is all that I think about and nothing really happens in my life right now, what do I blog about.

Well, today I was sitting in here at the computer, Emily in her bed and Bella in the other room watching TV. At least I thought Bella was watching TV. She walks in here to me mad because something wasn't going well for her. I look at her and just start laughing. And, of course I immediately reach for my camera.

She had put on two shirts instead of a shirt and shorts. I have to say she got the shirt part on almost perfectly. Just shy one arm. That was a better job than I would have thought she could do.

I would have to say it is an innovative way to wear a shirt for shorts. And, if anyone can pull it off, it would be Bella. (The hair needs a little work.)

Oh, I do hope you are able to savor this time that you are all together. Life is too short to do otherwise.

And that hair and outfit look oddly familiar.... the hair especially, today.

Here's some stuff for you to blog about, and that I'd love to hear your take on:

• What kids' actions tell you about human nature, since they aren't really polluted by societal influences (at least not too much) for the first few years, and it's all (theoretically) just pure, uncut humanity shining through. (Or do you actually see more just a reflection of how you act around them? Our daughter doesn't do much yet, you see, so I'm wondering what it'll be like when she does.)

• People's voices and how they affect how you think of that person. It's especially interesting now that people have so many friends who they mainly know online, so in some cases you know someone well and have no idea what they'd sound like if you were actually talking to them. So you imagine voices for them. Right? That's not just me, right?

• How it is that people can have such different beliefs and values from the people just one generation behind them... do you think it's that kids intentionally contradict their parents, or is it just a growing-up thing, and those kids will eventually think all the same stuff when they're their parents' age?

• Did I really just see some dude driving a truck this afternoon with homemade exhaust pipes built out of *dryer vents*? I sat behind him at a stop sign for several moments, and I swear there were two 4" aluminum cylinders, just like you've got coming out the back of your clothes dryer, flanking his truck's license plate. (Interestingly, the vehicle's exhaust wasn't loud at all. It was actually really nice and pleasant.)
And, as a subtopic, if they *were* dryer vents, should we censure and criticize this man's janky automotive efforts, or applaud his shrewdly applied redneck engineering?

There you go, Val. I'd love to hear what you've got to say on any of those topics. Go.

Oh, one extra one if you're feeling ambitious: Will future generations think of our environmental efforts as laughably futile, given that each of us dutifully sorts our plastic bottles into the recycle bin under the sink while developing nations build a coal-fired powerplant a day, or will they give us credit for turning the tide toward the eco-philosophy that really does end up saving the planet? (That one's really more a question for Al Gore or somebody, probably, to tell you the truth, but I still thought maybe we could see ol' VZ try to tackle it.)

Waiting is the hardest thing ever, at least for me. I understand about just waiting instead of living, I'm often find myself in those shoes too. And those pics of her shirt as pants cracked me up. This so reminds me of my sisters back in the day. Except they preferred underwear as hats. :)
